Teens Mindfulness Day

Be mindful. Be free.


Spend a half-day learning mindfulness, a practice of being aware of what you're doing in the present moment, free from the burden of self-consciousness and troubling emotions.

Enjoy the simple yet wonderful things we do every day: standing, sitting, walking, eating, talking, and being silent, to name a few. Be mindful; be free.

Age: 13-18

About David Listen

David Listen has been sharing Chan/Zen meditation and Buddhist teachings for over 15 years, leading intensive meditation retreats, classes, and activities at various monasteries, college campuses, and private institutions throughout North America, Europe, and East Asia. Previously known as Venerable Chang Wen(常聞法師) he was one of the few Western monastic disciples of Chan Master Sheng Yen.


He had been a monk for over a decade, and has since returned to lay life to share the insights of the Buddha in his own creative way.David is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, and has done extensive work translating the teachings of Chinese Buddhism into English, both on retreat and in published works. He holds a Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies, a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, and is currently a New York State licensed counselor at a clinic for people suffering from severe mental illness. He also has his own life mentoring/coaching practice, guiding people in their cultivation of wisdom and compassion on an individual basis.

Time: 9:30 am - 5 pm 


Once you send in your registration, you will hear from us within a week whether you have been accepted or not. 

IF ACCEPTED, please make your payment for the retreat to complete the registration and reserve your spot.


Activity Fee:

Please consider paying at the highest rate that you can afford: your generosity supports Dharma Drum Seattle Center and your fellow practitioners. 

Select one of the sliding scale rates below.

  • Benefactor $100 ($50 tax deductible as donation)
  • Sustainer $75 ($25 tax deductible as donation)
  • Base $50

It is recommanded that participants have prior experience in meditation. 

Lunch will be provided.

今年西雅圖營隊以「生活環保」「禮儀環保」及「禪修體驗」課程為主題,涵蓋人文、藝術、環保、禪修體驗等,

設計豐富多元、好玩又有意義的課程,讓小朋友從輕鬆活潑的互動活動中學習心念專注,從玩樂中學習如何整潔簡便的生活並尊重關懷他人。

Every year, DDMBA Mindful Kids Summer Camps attract a diverse group of young people in Taiwan and overseas to come together and learn, play, and mature while having a great time. 


This program includes lots of hands-on activities, story-telling, meditation practice, music, art, and games, making this a fun experience. This camp aims to teach children with the values of caring, confidence, and concentration, as well as to inspire children’s environmental awareness and to apply these skills to daily life.   Come join us and reserve a spot! 在寧靜的禪修環境中,透過打坐、經行、八式動禪、聆聽聖嚴師父開示、討論等活動,每週定期以禪坐共修來落實法鼓山的大普化教育,使學員身心放鬆,情緒穩定,精神專注。
